Then in August 2011 his trainer, manager and friend Shawn Tompkins died at 37. It was at Shawn’s funeral that he decided to bring home what Shawn had given him — and four and a half months later, in January 2012, Rumble opened its doors.

Two arts, both at world level. Our head instructor is an IBJJF-certified 2nd-degree black belt professor and a Muay Thai Kru certified by the government of Thailand — the only person to have medalled at the World Championships in both striking (Spain, ’06) and grappling (California, ’16). He was the Abu Dhabi World Pro’s #1 Canadian Masters black belt from 2018 to 2022, flown out each year to represent Canada. And he is not the only black belt on the floor.

Tiny Ninjas

Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling and judo in one — no striking at this age. Escapes, submissions and how to control someone rather than hurt them. Forty minutes of fitness, focus, listening and grappling games, with coaches who know how four-year-olds actually work.

Adults · 1-hour classes

Combat Core

The beginner-friendly track, and where most adults start. BJJ in the gi and no-gi, Muay Thai, kickboxing, boxing, wrestling and MMA — built to get you fit and skilled alongside other beginners. Nobody is getting a black eye. If you’re thinking “I need to get in shape first”, this is the room where that happens.

Combat Athlete Program

Where Combat Core leads. Longer classes, harder rounds, and the skills to handle other trained athletes — striking, grappling and MMA with sparring, for students who want to go further down the rabbit hole.

Women only · 18+

Battle Girl Bootcamp

Fitness kickboxing, women only. Real technique on real bags, in a room that runs on encouragement and motivation and motivation — plus a women’s-only BJJ class for the self-defence side: escapes, control and submissions.

Private lessons

One coach, one student, one goal — a competition, a plateau, a nervous first-timer, or a kid who does better without an audience. Ask and we'll build it around you.

“Everyone else already knows what they’re doing.” They don’t.

Nearly every adult who walks in says a version of the same thing — I need to get in shape first, I’m too old, I’ll get beaten up, you have to start as a kid. None of it is true here. Combat Core is technique and drilling with other beginners, sparring is a choice you make much later, and you will not be the worst person in the room, because there is no such thing here.

Why Rumble

Adam started teaching in Georgina in 2008 and opened Rumble’s doors in January 2012. We were the first gym of our kind here, and we’re still here. The most experienced and highest-level instruction in Georgina — years of results, and athletes built from scratch onto Team Canada in both striking and grappling, and into the pro ranks. That’s not the reason to train here, but it’s what eighteen years of doing this properly looks like.

Two arts, both at world level

Most coaches are a striker or a grappler. Our head instructor is both, and has the medals to show it — Team Canada kickboxing at the World Championships in Spain, 2006, and the IBJJF World Championships in California, 2016. He fought his way onto the national team in both, and has represented Canada around the world in each.

  • 2nd-degree BJJ black belt, certified by the IBJJF — the sport’s governing body.
  • Certified Muay Thai Kru under Master Toddy of Thailand, whose five decades of coaching have produced more than forty world champions, and who trained Gina Carano, Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz.
  • Multiple black belts teaching on the floor, not one name on a wall.
  • 2008Keswick's first MMA gym.Eighteen years in the same town. Some of our first kids now bring their own.

Two free weeks. Here's how it works.

Not one class. Not a week. Fourteen days of every class on the timetable, so you can find out what you actually like.

  1. Pick a class

Choose a program and a day on the booking page. It takes about a minute. If you're not sure which program, pick anything beginner-friendly and we'll steer you on the day.

  2. Show up in comfy clothes

Shorts or leggings and a t-shirt. No shoes on the mats (socks are fine if you prefer). We have loaner gear for your first sessions, so don't buy anything yet.

  3. Train for two weeks

Come to as many classes as you want across BJJ, Muay Thai, boxing and more. At the end, if it's your gym, we'll find the membership that fits. If it isn't, no hard feelings.
