Two adults drilling a grappling technique on the mats at Rumble Martial Arts, with the white boxing ring behind them.

Adults. Start wherever you actually are.

Never trained a day in your life? That's most of the room on day one. Combat Core is built for people who are still finding their feet, and nobody here is keeping score. Already training hard and want more? The Combat Athlete Program is where that goes next.

2 weeks free · every class · unlimited

There are 2 trial spots in every class.

The five things that stop people walking in

  • “I need to get in shape first.” This is the room where that happens. Nobody has ever arrived fit enough — that is what the training is for.
  • “I’m too old to start.” Our adult classes run from 16 to well past 50. You are training beside people your own age, at your own pace.
  • “I’ll get beaten up.” You won’t. Combat Core is technique and drilling with other beginners. Sparring lives in CAP, and it is a choice you make later, not a thing that happens to you in week one.
  • “You have to start as a kid.” Most of our adults started as adults. Two weeks free, and no one is watching you.
  • “I don’t have the time.” Two or three hours a week is a real training habit here — not the five you’re picturing. Classes run mornings and evenings, six days a week, and nothing is booked in advance: you come to the ones that fit the week you’re actually having.

Two arts, both at world level

Most coaches are a striker or a grappler. Our head instructor is both — the only person to have medalled at the World Championships in both striking (Spain, 2006) and grappling (California, 2016). He fought his way onto the Canadian national team in both.

  • 2nd-degree BJJ black belt, certified by the IBJJF — the sport’s governing body.
  • Certified Muay Thai Kru under Master Toddy of Thailand, whose five decades of coaching produced more than forty world champions, and who trained Gina Carano, Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz.
  • Bronze for Team Canada at the kickboxing World Championships in Spain, 2006.
  • Abu Dhabi World Pro’s #1 Canadian Masters black belt, 2018 to 2022 — flown out each year to represent Canada.
  • Ten years working security, four to five nights a week — the credential behind how we teach de-escalation, his “Verbal Jiu-Jitsu,” before anything physical.
  • Multiple black belts teaching on the floor, not one name on a wall.

Two tracks, one room

Adults train from 16. Pick where you actually are today — you can always move between tracks, and every program below is included in your two free weeks.

Combat Core Program

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (gi and no-gi), Muay Thai, kickboxing, boxing, wrestling and MMA — one hour at a time. This is where almost every adult at Rumble starts, including the ones who show up nervous, unfit, and sure they'll be the worst person on the mat. They aren't. Everyone in this room remembers their own first class.

Combat Athlete Program (CAP)

The track beyond Combat Core, for students who've decided this is what they do. Striking, grappling and MMA at a harder pace, sparring built into the week, and the skills to defeat other trained athletes — not just outlast other beginners. Ninety-minute classes for anyone ready to go deeper down the rabbit hole. CAP requires its own insurance, which we'll walk you through when you join.

Battle Girl Bootcamp

A women-only room for fitness kickboxing — real technique on real bags, in a room that runs on encouragement and motivation. Plus a women’s-only BJJ class for the self-defence side: escapes, control and submissions. Teen girls train in our co-ed teen classes, not here; Battle Girl starts at 18.

Women's BJJ & Self-Defence

A separate women's-only class for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and practical self-defence — grappling, not fitness kickboxing. See the schedule for the current day and time.

Private Lessons

One coach, your goals — a competition camp, a plateau, a nervous first-timer, or a kid who does better without an audience (private lessons are often used for kids too). Ask us and we'll build it around you.

"Everyone else already knows what they're doing." They don't.

That worry is the single biggest thing keeping adults from walking in the door — and it's the thing we hear about least, because most people never say it out loud. So we'll say it for you: you will not be the worst person in the room, because there is no such thing here.

  1. Nobody expects you to know anything

Combat Core is a beginner's room by design. Coaches teach to the newest person, every class, every time — not around them.

  2. You will not be pushed to spar

Sparring is optional and it's not a first-class thing. You drill, you learn, you go at your own pace until you decide otherwise.

  3. Most of the room started exactly like you

Unfit, unsure, and thirty minutes from talking themselves out of it. They came anyway. That's the whole gym.

What Keswick says

Rated 5.0 out of 5. 72 reviews on Google

Seventy-one families and fighters have gone to the trouble of writing about us on Google, and not one has given us less than five stars. We didn't pick the nice ones — that's all of them.

I'm not exactly the biggest guy at the gym, so starting out was a bit intimidating for me. I had nothing to worry about. The coaches and everyone at the gym really all work together to help you improve. For how hard we are pushed, I never thought I'd look forward to getting my ass kicked every class.

I started training at this gym in September 2013 in the Level 1 Battle Girl Bootcamp. I did this by myself, stepping completely out of my comfort zone. From the first time I stepped foot in this gym I was made to feel comfortable. The coaches here are amazing, encouraging and inspiring. The staff is AMAZING and soo helpful. I have dropped 4 pant sizes and many inches and am now in the MMA program. This place is honestly amazing and I am so glad I made the call.

The BEST gym in town for fitness, kickboxing and brazilian jiu-jitsu! Rumble MMA has a fantastic atmosphere, tons of diverse classes, a VERY successful competition team and classes for everyone. I've been training here since 2012 and I love this place!
